Althea joined IP Group in 2016 and is part of the team that drives the company’s efforts to identify and develop early-stage technologies in the life sciences. In this role, she is responsible for discovering investment opportunities, completing rigorous due diligence and developing business plans to take new technologies from discovery through to commercialization.
Before joining the company, Althea was Assistant Director of Licensing at the Penn Center for Innovation, part of the University of Pennsylvania. While there, she managed a large and diverse technology portfolio and was responsible for the associated intellectual property decisions, commercialization endeavors, and agreement negotiations.
Althea has experience in technologies ranging across the healthcare and biotech sectors, as well as an extensive research background in neuroscience, genetics, and molecular biology.
She holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from Yale University and a B.A. in Molecular Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
